Time Flies
A year ago, I remember I would watch Trauma and the other medical shows and think how exciting and interesting the OR seemed, So much more action than sitting in a cubicle speaking with angry customers all day! But still, I really had no intention of finding out what it took to get in there......until I got laid off from my customer service job at Adelphia Cable! That was the best thing that could have happened to me, although it didn't seem like it at the time. I was angry, this was the second time in a year that I had gotten laid off, That was the last straw! At that point, I knew I had to change my direction....and quick! I started to consider what I would like doing for a career, not just a job. That's when I started to seek out how to get into the OR.....and not as the janitor or something like that! I wanted to be in the middle of the action as part of the surgical team! I looked around and found Glendale Career College, scheduled an interview with a counselor, and the next week, I was in class! It happened that fast!
Once in class, there were many kinds of different people. I thought to myself, this should be interesting, and it has been, down to this day! Some people fell by wayside, others kept on going, and i've met some of the funniest, dependable, warmest people that I can call friends along the way. It's funny how during the course of a year, you bond with some of the most unlikely people! Time has gone by so fast, and now it's time for these little birdies to fly from the nest. I'm glad I made the decision I did. Thankfully, everyone was supportive of me, and saw the bright light at the end of the tunnel. I will always be a part of GCC in some way. I won't say goodbye because I expect to see most of my peers and the staff of GCC somewhere down the line in the future. As Connie said "The end of this journey is the start of another" Congratulations to those that got this far, and good luck to those starting and in the process of this journey.
