Anatomy & Physiology
If you were like me and have no medical background or training
You better pay attention in this class! DR Joseph will take you from basic medical
terminology to deep into the body's systems. It can seem overwhelming at times, but stay
focused! A lot of people drop during this module, but the secret to passing this class
is to TAKE NOTES! Whatever he writes on the board more than likely will be on a test. This class
is VERY important, and is the foundation for you to understand what's going on in
future classes. If you snooze in here, you lose later on! Take lot's of notes and study
then you should be fine. |

Microbiology & Immunology:
This class
will Teach you about bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa, parasites and your immune system. The class
is short, about 2 weeks, but it seems like longer. As usual a lot is taught very quickly
so don't snooze. After this class, you will be very hygene consious! |

CPR 2 days...1 written test, and then a
practical test. After you pass the test
you eventually get your CPR card. |
| Pharmacology & Anasthesiology:
This class will discuss different drugs and anasthesia and their uses in the OR. Not a lot of
anatomy here, but physiology is discussed in relation to how drugs effect the body's
system. A nice change of pace after anatomy and microbiology. Learn your drugs here, because you'll have to know them later on!

Intro to surgical technology:
This module is fun! This is the class where you start to learn
about surgical technology. You'll learn different instrument sets, gowning and gloving,
how to drape the patient, how to pass instruments to the surgeon, etc. the basics
will be taught to you which you will refine later on in mock surgery and externship.
If your GPA is a bit low for your liking, it should be higher by the time you leave this
class! NEXT |
