Graduation Day On Sunday June 8th, 2003 I attended the graduation for the students of Glendale Career College. When I ![]() arrived, Directors were trying to get these students to their designated groups and forming lines for the processional. Finally with all that accomplished everyone took their seats and were ready to begin. The students marched in and took their seats, followed by the ROTC color guard from Roosevelt High School. Massage Therapy Instructor, John Rardin then sang the National Anthem. He sounded absolutely wonderful. Surgical Technology Instructor, Sarkis Yeghnazar then followed with the Pledge Of Allegiance and sang "God Bless America". Those of us who have heard Sarkis sing before know what a treat that was. There was also a Instrument Technology graduate named Wanda Hines who did a solo of "Climbing The Mountain." There were two guest speakers, Dave Weaver, Councilman of the City Of Glendale, and Honorable Jack Scott of the 21st Senatorial District California State Senate. ![]() ![]() Now it was time to introduce the students who had made Honor Society, President's List, and Valedictorian. There was a new category this year for perfect attendance. The smiles on their faces said it all, they were so proud of their accomplishments. Some students gave speeches to express their appreciation and thanks. Finally, it was time for what everyone had worked so hard for all the months of going to school, It was time to officially become a graduate! When you flip your tassel from the left to the right side of your cap, and you walk across the stage and are greeted by all your instructors one last time to say "Goodbye and Good-luck". To receive your diploma in your hand , then with great satisfaction raising it high in the air, as you look for your loved ones to say "YES I DID IT!" are you as proud of me as i am of myself. ![]() ![]() ![]() What could be a greater feeling, than to know you have accomplished something that night not have been easy, but you stayed with it to the end.Your reward? The knowledge to go into your new career, the confidence to take your career another step further, and the memories you will carry with you for a lifetime of all the close friends you made, knowing this may very well be the last you see them. How could you not want to attend your graduation knowing all of this? I know that after experiencing what i saw on June 8th, 2003, I eagerly await my graduation in June 2004. I hope you will all consider attending your graduation. It can be closing the door on part of your, or opening another to your future. Linda Graffeo Surgical Technologist. |
